  • Complete Sanitary Sewer Connection Form and submit with an initial application fee of $125.00 made out to New Hanover Township.
  • The Authority's Engineer reviews how the property will be hooked up. A completed professional service agreement and a separate check for $1,000.00 is needed to establish an escrow account to cover the cost of the engineering fees incurred by the Authority.
  • Submit check for Tapping Fee of $3,469.00 plus dependent on property location, there may be a Special Purpose Fee. The two Special Purpose charges are for connections that utilize the Swamp Creek Pump Station and the Swamp Creek Interceptor. Swamp Creek Pump Station Fee is $1,192.00 and Swamp Creek Interceptor Fee is $1,928.00.  Please note the tapping fee is subject to change.  Please confirm with the Authority before proceeding with this step.
  • Click here for a copy of our specifications; your plumber will need to review this before proceeding to ensure it meets our standards.
  • Your plumber must alert the Township Engineer when the work will start on your connection to the public sanitary sewer system. Any inspections that are required for this project, must be scheduled by your plumber, allowing 48 hours’ notice.

Sewer rental will begin at the time of connection to the public sewer system.  Quarterly bills are mailed in January, April, July and October.  The current rate is $150.00 per EDU, and it is due 30 days after the bill date.  Please be aware that if you have not connected within 60 days, sewer rental charges will begin on the sixty-first day.  In addition, failure to connect within the required period can result in the Township entering your property, constructing the connection and billing you for the cost.  This, of course, would be a last resort, and not an option that the Township would expect or want to exercise.

All accounts that have checks returned for non-sufficient funds will incur a $50.00 non-sufficient fund fee.
